Fractional CFO, CEO, COO, and Project Management for Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and FMCG Brands

Cimientu Advisory provides fractional CFO, CEO, COO, and project management leadership for consumer packaged goods (CPG) and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands. We make the economics of pricing, trade spend, inventory, and working capital clear, so growth produces cash instead of consuming it.

Industry classification: NAICS 311 and 312: Food and Beverage Manufacturing; 3256: Soap, Cleaning Compound, and Toilet Preparation Manufacturing. Cannabis has no dedicated NAICS code; cultivators commonly use 111419 (Other Food Crops Grown Under Cover) and dispensaries use retail codes under NAICS 44 to 45.
WHO THIS IS FOR
FRACTIONAL LEADERSHIP

Senior leadership, scaled to what you need.

Fractional CFO

Gross-to-net, trade spend, SKU and channel profitability, pricing, inventory, and investor reporting.

Fractional CEO

Interim executive leadership through founder transitions, PE ownership changes, brand portfolio integration, and turnarounds.

Fractional COO

Supply chain, co-manufacturer and 3PL management, demand and production planning, and fulfillment performance.

Product launches, retailer onboarding, co-manufacturer transitions, and ERP and planning system rollouts.

Each role can be engaged on its own or together, alongside strategy, AI and technology, ERP and systems execution, and back office operations. See what we do.

COMMON CHALLENGES

Where the foundation tends to crack.

Gross-to-net leakage

Trade promotions, slotting, retailer deductions, and chargebacks erode revenue between list price and cash received.

Inventory against demand

Co-manufacturer minimums, lead times, and shelf life force inventory bets that strain cash.

Margin by SKU and channel

Without SKU and channel profitability, the fastest growing products can be the least profitable.

Investor-grade reporting

PE sponsors and lenders expect timely, consistent reporting and forecasts.

Cannabis: Section 280E

Federal tax rules limit deductions for businesses trafficking in Schedule I or II substances, which makes cost of goods sold accounting critical.

Cannabis: cash and compliance

Limited banking access raises the stakes on cash handling and controls. State seed-to-sale tracking must reconcile with the general ledger, and regulators expect accurate, timely records.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Plain answers, as promised.

What is gross-to-net in CPG?

Gross-to-net is the difference between gross sales at list price and net revenue after trade promotions, allowances, slotting fees, deductions, and returns. Tracking it by retailer and SKU shows where revenue is leaking.

Do you work with PE-backed consumer brands?

Yes. We support PE-backed and founder-led consumer brands at the mid-market and upper mid-market level, including companies operating in capital-constrained situations.

Why does Section 280E matter for cannabis businesses?

Section 280E of the Internal Revenue Code disallows most deductions for businesses trafficking in Schedule I or II controlled substances. Cost of goods sold remains deductible, so accurate inventory and cost accounting has a direct effect on taxes owed.

Do you provide tax services?

We provide finance and accounting leadership and work alongside your CPA or tax advisor, who files returns and gives tax opinions.

Can you provide a fractional CEO, COO, or project manager, not only a CFO?

Yes. Each fractional role can be engaged on its own or together. A fractional CEO provides interim executive leadership through transitions, turnarounds, and growth phases. A fractional COO runs day-to-day operations, processes, and systems. Fractional project management keeps initiatives such as product launches, retailer onboarding, and co-manufacturer transitions moving, with coordination, follow-through, and honest status reports.
