Plain answers, as promised.
What does a fractional CFO do for a nonprofit?
A fractional CFO oversees fund accounting, budgets and forecasts, grant compliance, audit readiness, and board reporting on a part-time basis, at a cost a nonprofit can sustain.
How do nonprofits account for restricted donations?
Under ASC 958, contributions are reported as net assets with donor restrictions or without donor restrictions. Restricted funds are released as the restriction is met, and the tracking must be documented for auditors.
Can you provide a fractional CEO, COO, or project manager, not only a CFO?
Yes. Each fractional role can be engaged on its own or together. A fractional CEO provides interim executive leadership through transitions, turnarounds, and growth phases. A fractional COO runs day-to-day operations, processes, and systems. Fractional project management keeps initiatives such as grant-funded programs, capital campaigns, and strategic plan execution moving, with coordination, follow-through, and honest status reports.
